ALP TSCHORR HIKE
Once you’ve taken the chairlift to Brandalp, follow the road towards Senntum past Breite Stäg and cross the Gorpatbach stream. Here the path branches off to the left towards Undri Eischollalp. There’s a fantastic view from the Alpine pasture, 1,868 metres above sea level. Leaving the traditional Alpine huts behind, you follow the wide path further on to the Alp Tschorr. Here, you’ll find a popular barbecue area on the shore of a small pond. Every year at the end of June, the Tschorrfäscht festival, with the traditional Eringer cow fighting, takes place in Tschorr. The hike continues through the Färichwald forest to Obermatten (1,550 m above sea level), a wide, lush alpine meadow with scattered settlements and a unique view of the central Valais. From here it is only about an hour’s walk to the picturesque village of Ergisch. On Wednesdays, you can take the hiking bus back to Unterbäch.
