UNTERBÄCH – WELCOME HOME
The idyllic mountain village of Unterbäch is situated on a sunny high plateau surrounded by breath-taking Alpine scenery, far from the holidaymaker hordes. This little gem of a holiday destination in the heart of the canton of Valais is a true paradise for nature lovers, outdoor enthusiasts and families looking for a combination of adventure and relaxation. Nestled around 1,200 m above sea level, the Swiss tourist destination of Unterbäch captivates visitors with its unspoilt natural landscape, fresh Alpine air and unique mountain panorama with a view of the iconic Bietschhorn.
BÜRCHEN – VILLAGE OF BIRCHES
Bürchen is situated in a beautiful terraced area between 1,250 and 1,600 m above sea level and is 10 minutes’ drive from Unterbäch. Bürchen – also known as ‘Birkendorf’ (village of birches) – is a beloved hiking haven and a popular ski and snowboard resort for families in winter. Bürchen is also the home village of the Olympic champion Ramon Zenhäusern. Moosalp is a popular daytrip destination in winter and summer.
EISCHOLL – HOME OF THE SPRING MEADOW SAFFRON
Eischoll is situated 1,220 m above sea level on a mountain terrace and is only 5 minutes’ drive from Unterbäch. Lush mountain pastures with many kilometres of hiking trails and mysterious quiet forests invite you to relax and find calm in nature. In winter, Eischoll’s small ski resort is connected to that of Unterbäch. There’s no need to queue for ski and chair lifts in Eischoll. You can quickly overcome 1,000 metres of altitude difference.
ERGISCH – THE PEACEFUL MOUNTAIN VILLAGE
Ergisch (1,086 m above sea level) and the Alpine foothills of Obermatten have preserved their original character and varied traditions, far from the hectic pace of mass tourism. Once you have spent your holidays in Ergisch, you’ll be hooked. All year round, guests enjoy retreating into unspoilt nature, the locals’ spontaneous warmth and stunning views of many Lower Valais mountain ranges and the Rhone valley.
ZENEGGEN – THE TYPICAL VALAIS MOUNTAIN VILLAGE
Zeneggen is perched on a sunny lookout point above the Rhone – or more specifically, the Visp – valley, surrounded by an imposing mountain landscape. To the north, it borders directly on the Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. The vast hiking area of Zeneggen is ideal for Nordic walking, with its many hiking trails of various altitudes and difficulty levels.
