WANDFLÜE TRAIL
The Wandflüekapelle chapel is located near Turtig/Raron high above the valley floor, nestled against the steep, pine-covered mountain wall. Brick Stations of the Cross line the narrow path that leads from Bürchen past the aforementioned chapel to the valley floor. This path used to be the church path for the citizens of Bürchen, who had to attend the Sunday service in the castle church of Raron. Today, the chapel path to the Wandflüekapelle chapel is a popular walk from the Schattenberge mountains down into the valley. Its scenic setting in Valais, overshadowed by wild pine trees, with an impressive view over the magnificent Rhone valley, is one of a kind. The hike begins at the church in Unterbäch and leads via the Capetsch chapel to the Hochaschtler and on via the Wandflüekapelle chapel to Raron. From Raron, you can take the cable car back to Unterbäch.
