ERGISCHALPHORN
This tour starts at the top station of the Striggen-Erez ski lift and leads through light larch forest in a south-eastern direction. Once you’ve left the timberline behind, you climb the eastern slopes of the ‘Erez’ to reach the wide north-eastern ridge of the Ergischalphorn. Following this ridge, you finally reach the Ergischalphorn (2,849 m above sea level). Before starting the descent, it is worth stopping to enjoy the fantastic panoramic view.
From the summit, there’s a short descent south-east to reach the beautiful north-eastern slopes. In this excellent freeride terrain, ’you might make out the tracks of a lone skier at most. Knowledge of avalanche conditions and an appropriate choice of route are essential. Like on route 183, you keep left at the timberline to reach ‘Obru Eischollalp’. Here you reach the prepared slopes again. You can now follow these to Eischoll or switch to the Unterbäch ski resort via the connecting road.
