“HERBSTGENUSS”

Hike and enjoy. A wonderful hike with culinary breaks and a breathtaking view of the Valais mountains awaits you on the autumn pleasure hike. The theme of this year’s pleasure hike is “Earth, Water, Air & Fire”.

CHILDREN’S TRAIN “GINALS-EXPRESS”
The “Ginals Express” children’s train makes children’s hearts beat faster. The popular mini train makes its rounds on the church square in Unterbäch every 5 weeks in summer. The price per ride is CHF 0.50. The Ginals Express operates daily from 6 July to 15 August 2024 from 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm.

Hike independently through the breathtaking mountain landscape of Unterbäch and get to know the Valais from its most natural side. Enjoy exclusive beers or wines from the region at 5 different stops. Another culinary highlight awaits you for lunch at the “Alpenrösli” restaurant on Brandalp.
EXPERIENCE HERD PROTECTION LIVE
Dates: In summer from Monday to Friday afternoons by appointment.
The guard dog trainer Marianne takes you on a walk to the guard dogs and tells you interesting facts about their mission, their work and the nature of the dogs. A small culinary surprise awaits you at the end of the tour. The offer is limited to a maximum of 8 participants. You are not allowed to bring your own dogs on this occasion.
Duration: 1.5 to 2 hours (in all weathers)

CREATE YOUR OWN PIECE OF JEWELLERY
Children, young people and adults can design and create a piece of jewellery of their choice under the expert guidance of Esther.
Wednesday or Friday, between 13.30 and 15.00 for one hour or by appointment.
Meeting place: Esthi’s Glitzer Lädeli, Dorfstrasse 34, 3944 Unterbäch.
Price: CHF 5.00 per person (possibly plus material costs)

VISIT THE CHICKENS
Dates: all year round from Monday to Friday between 9.30 and 10.30 a.m.
How do chickens actually live? What kind of food do they like and which chicken lays white and which brown eggs? Is there a social order in the chicken yard and who is the boss? How do you store chicken eggs and how can you tell the age of an egg? Many questions about keeping chickens, which will be answered during the visit to the henhouse. Susanne is also happy to pass on lots of interesting facts about the rooster “Goldie” and his flock of chickens.
Meeting place: Chicken coop on the “Hubil” (near the electricity plant in the village).
Price: voluntary contribution for the chickens

ALPINE CHEESE DAIRY VISIT
Dates: Every Thursday in July and August by appointment.
Every Thursday in July and August, when the cows are on the alpine pasture, you can take a look at the Ginals alpine cheese dairy and take part in the traditional cheese-making process. The guided tour lasts about 2 to 3 hours. If you wish, you can buy fresh cheese and Ziger from the alp afterwards. Start is at approx. 7.30 am. The offer is limited to a maximum of 8 persons.
