HIKING TOUR NO. 10
MOOSALP CIRCULAR HIKE
One of the most popular circular hikes in the Augstbord region is the Brandalp-Moosalp circular hike. Once you have taken the comfortable chairlift ride to Brandalp, you first follow the forest road briefly to the left of the mountain station towards Bürchen. At the timber stockyard, the path branches off to the right towards ‘Alte Suon’. After crossing the Löübbach stream, the path continues to wind upwards and leads through the cool forest over the Tschuggustafel (1,898 m above sea level) to the Bürchneralp. From here it is only a short climb to the Chalte Brunne, the centre of the Moosalp (2,048 m above sea level). Time to stop at one of the two popular restaurants.
Newly fortified, continue to the beautiful lookout point ‘Stand’ (2,121 m above sea level). Here you can enjoy a phenomenal panoramic view of the Valais and Bernese Alps. The tour continues via the two picture-postcard mountain lakes Bonigersee and Breitmattusee. Via Eischmatte, the path winds through the cool forest and above the chalet area of Bürchen through to the Ronbach. After crossing this stream, the path follows the ‘Alte Suon’ waterway back to Brandalp. From Brandalp you can either take the chairlift to Unterbäch, hire a scooter or make the descent on foot.
