The Zitaten Trail in Unterbäch is particularly suitable for a wonderful day out on snowshoes. You start in the village at the valley station of the Unterbäch sports lifts. The trail leads up under the chairlift to just below the Wolfshöhle après-ski bar and then leads up over the Brandalpstrasse. The trail continues to the right through a few chalets towards Fromatta. Once in the hamlet of Fromatta, turn left towards Obscha. From here you are on the famous Women’s Quotations Trail, which ends at Brandalp. If you include the quotations in front of the Burgerstube in the village centre, there are a total of 15 panels with quotations from famous women such as Mother Teresa, Indira Gandhi or Simone de Beauvoir. The words are meant to invite reflection while walking. In addition, the trail is intended to remind us that women in Unterbäch, the “Rütli of Swiss women”, were allowed to vote 14 years before they had official voting rights. When you arrive at Brandalp, we recommend a visit to the cosy Alpenrösli Hotel-Restaurant. Freshly refreshed, you start the return journey from Brandalp via Egga to Unterbäch. Shortly before reaching the village, it is worth taking a short break at the Hohegga vantage point, where an adventure telescope brings the fantastic panorama a little closer.
