Quotes from famous women frame this entertaining hike from Brandalp to Unterbäch. The first one is located directly opposite the restaurant Alpenrösli, at the top station of the chairlift coming from Unterbäch. The trail is separately signposted with pink signs and runs along the Brandstrasse for a few minutes before it branches off into the nature trail at the bend above Ta. Along the walk you will come across 16 panels with quotations from famous women such as Mother Teresa, Indira Gandhi and Simone de Beauvoir. The latest quote comes from the Valais Federal Councillor Viola Amherd. The women’s words should invite you to contemplate as you walk. The route is also intended to remind us that women in Unterbäch, the ‘Swiss woman’s Rütli’, were allowed to vote 14 years before they officially won the right to do so. The trail is laid out on easy and safe terrain, but still covers around 450 metres in altitude. We therefore recommend hiking boots and hiking poles if required. If you prefer to hike uphill, you can also start the well-signposted trail at the village square in Unterbäch. In winter the popular trail is accessible with snowshoes (Brandalp Trail).
